Nanotech: a global trend

Nanotechnology is one of the fastest growing technologies in the world. Today, this technology is employed in various fields such as engineering, technology, applied sciences, biomedical, pharmaceutical, food and agriculture and construction industries. Within 10 or 15 years, industrial production of nanotechnology is expected to be worth over $1 trillion. Thus, this technology will drastically change the science, education, manufacturing and lifestyle of people all over the world.

02

Nanotech in sustainable agriculture

Nanotechnology has the potential to improve agriculture and the food industry, contributing with products for the rapid diagnosis of diseases, identification of the food maturation process, increase in the ability to absorb nutrients from plants, among others.

Nanotechnology can act through nanosensors to monitor the quality of the soil, as well as food, and thereby improve production processes and the supply chain to the consumer's table. Sustainability and food security are also fields of research currently being explored by researchers in the field of nanotechnology to improve agriculture.

Invest in nano

Embrapa Instrumentação and Siena Company assembled a team of expertise in nanotechnology and artificial intelligence to create the first Brazilian nanosensor for measuring fruit ripening. In the last two and a half years, our studies were directed to the segment of climacteric fruits (such as bananas, mangoes, papayas) with the objective of identifying the stage of maturation of the fruits and the prediction of the best dates for consumption or processing of these fruits.< /p>

But how does it work? YVA is a colorimetric sensor that changes color (from purple to brown) as the fruit ripens. Its reading can be done by comparing colors: sensor color and scale previously chosen for the fruit variety. To avoid ambiguous interpretations, a system was developed that, through the photos of the sensor, indicates the stage of maturation of the fruit.

We understand that its use would be suitable for fruit exporters and large retailers. The prototyping phase is validated and completed. We are looking for investors who understand and believe in this global “megatrend”. Look for us.
